A Long Time Coming

My co-worker / friend and I have birthdays only a few days apart. We try to do something each year to celebrate together, but in recent years, life has gotten in the way. Three years ago we made a plan to go to a float tank and dine at Red Lobster. After all the planning, wishing, and trying to coordinate schedules; the day has finally arrived. Saga and Leif thinking about diving in. Leif suffered a disfiguring accident in the parkade. Surgery is scheduled soon! For those of you who don't know, a float tank is a small pool of water, saturated with salt to the point that it's impossible to sink. For 75 minutes (if I'm driving to the city, I'm getting the longest session they will allow), you float and listen to music. I've heard that an hour float is as restful as an 8 hour sleep. A Troll Would Approve

 A little bit of Viking goes a long way! Some adventures are right in your own backyard, or at least, your in-law's back yard. We have always spent the February break in Medicine Hat. The kids had the week off, due to Family Day and Teacher's Convention. This was our last teacher's convention ever, since my youngest graduated this year. What does one do in Southern Alberta, in February with a 19 year old, a 17 year old, a 12 year old and a 6 month old (and an assortment of adults)? Six One Six Entertainment in Medicine Hat has virtual reality and axe throwing. The boys were very excited about the VR. I think we had as much fun watching the boys play the VR games as they had playing them.  Who knew VR was an entertaining spectator sport! We laughed so much as the boys ducked, swerved and shot at things that weren't really there! I was very excited about the axes! Westminster Abbey

We booked a day tour through an app, Get Your Guide, which I've used a few times. I've always had good luck with it. Our bus tour didn't include any London sites, and there were a few we didn't want to miss. This particular walking tour checked off much of that list. Westminster Abbey There is a series of statues above the main entrance, dedicated to people who died for their beliefs from modern history. These include a man who stood up to Hitler, a teenager who was killed by her parents for converting to Christianity, and Martin Luther King. We started with a couple hours at Westminster Abbey. The burial place of kings and queen, as well as scientists, writers and composers. We saw tombs for Elizabeth I, Charles Dickens, Issac Newton and Stephen Hawking.
